The end of the year is fast approaching. Soon your clinic will be compiling its end of year reports, settling its books, and reflecting on the business side of your physical therapy clinic. For many businesses, the start of a new year is a perfect opportunity to improve on its business practices. To help you make the most of your 2019 planning, we’ve put together a short list of our favorite PT clinic business resolutions.
Resolution #1: Conduct a Website Review
As a practicing PT clinician, your main focus is on working with your patients, so it’s no surprise that you may not have looked at your website since June. While this may have worked for most of 2018,not keeping an eye on your website can be detrimental to your success in the long run. Use the start of the new year to conduct a detailed website review.
When conducting a website review you want to check for broken links, images that no longer load, and any in correct information. Your website should be formatted and optimized to be used on both mobile and desktop. Check for slow load times and incorrect formatting on mobile.
It’s easy to put your website on the back burner and let it run on autopilot. But proper maintenance can improve patient referral, your visibility online, and improve the overall patient experience.
Resolution #2: Re-Evaluate Your Staffing Needs for the New Year
A strong team of employees is essential to a successful practice. Not only does a strong team improve the patient experience, but it also boosts company morale. Even though bringing on new employees can be time-consuming with training time, it’s worth it. Take the time now to consider when you’ll need to hire and train new employees. Doing this now will help prepare you and your staff for when the time comes to bring in new people.
Resolution #3: Review Your Marketing Plan
Each new year brings with it new marketing trends, best practices, and channels that your clinic can use to reach potential new patients. If you currently have no overarching marketing strategy, don’t freak out. There are plenty of resources online that can help walk you through creating the perfect plan for your practice.
When reviewing your marketing plan, start by looking at what worked and what didn’t work in 2018. Also, look for opportunities to improve your performance on channels that may have been forgotten in 2018(like your social media networks). Marketing is another full-time job, which many practices choose to hire out to someone. It’s a new year, so don’t be afraid to get adventurous and try new marketing tactics.
Resolution #4: Get Involved with Your Local Community
Making connections with your local community and other businesses can help create strong, lasting relationships that extend beyond your practice’s office. Speaking at local events, hosting events, and getting actively involved will help get your practice’s name out there. Getting involved in your local community can also help your patients (and soon-to-be patients) get to know your clinic on a personal level. This can help you create trusting relationships that encourage those who might be curious about your services feel confident in choosing your practice.
Resolution #5: Introduce More Eco-Friendly Business Practices
